Jackie Morris: News

2017 - An Exciting Year - June 10, 2017

For almost all of 2016, I was submerged in creating my new album, PERISCOPE HEART.  And now it's done and "out there," happily among Top Albums of May 2017 on the Folk Music Radio Airplay Charts.  I also got my first real-deal 5-star review from Paul Riley of the British magazine, Country Music People.  I was quite jazzed about that.

But even more happily, I am "out there" again ... doing a series of benefit concerts in France called "Songs for Syria."  The concerts, held at popular restaurants around our area (the south of France) raise money for medical supplies for refugee children.  I am really thrilled to be part of this worthwhile cause.

CELEBRATING 2015 WITH "BON APPETIT" - April 11, 2015

As some of you may know, I have been spending summers with my partner where he lives, in the south of France, and it's been quite a wonderful, magical...and interesting...experience.  So much so that it inspired me to write a song celebrating the French way of life.  It's called, "Bon Appetit."  This, in turn, led to my first real-deal music video last summer when my partner's son-in-law--French cinematographer, Lionel Brouet--came to visit us.  I really urge you to watch this fun video on my Videos page.  As one viewer commented, "It's like a mini-vacation with a beat."

I've had a lot to celebrate so far in 2015, too.  January saw my newest album, CAN'T FIX CRAZY, chart among The Roots Music Reports Top 100 Americana Country Albums Chart for the YEAR of 2014 (it was #35).  The Album was also selected to be on PANDORA.  And, last but not least, this past month (April) saw the release of "Bon Appetit" on Youtube to an enthusiastic reception.  Thank you to everyone who helped me make it, and to those of you who let me know that you enjoyed it.  That's what it's all about, after all.

"CRAZY" GOOD NEWS - September 29, 2014

Well, a few really nice things have happened since I announced the release of "CAN'T FIX CRAZY." For one thing, it has been on the Roots Music Report's Top 50 Charts for a couple months now...with the title track reaching #7 on the Americana Country Song Chart. It also was among Top Albums of May 2014 on the Folk Music Radio Airplay Charts.

Then, I was really honored when Jon Stein asked me to be a featured artist on his Hootenanny Cafe Mini Concerts on Sunday, October 5th, at 9 p.m. (east coast time). If you're reading this before October 5th, you can tune in at 93.5 FM (in the NY-NJ-PA area) or streaming live online at I'll be doing a mix from my last two albums. But what's really great is that - if you're reading this AFTER that date, or it's just not a convenient time for you - you can listen to my set at (You can hear other very talented featured artists there, as well!)

In addition, "Can't Fix Crazy" will soon be a pledge drive selection for Lilli Kuzma's "Folk Festival" show on 90.9 WDCB out of Chicago. And again, if you're not in the area, you can catch her show online (Tuesdays, 8-11 pm, Central Time) at I'm so proud and pleased to be able to support her unique and engaging show.

And finally, on Friday, October 3rd, I get to play at my hometown's Avocado Festival -- that's in Carpinteria, CA. I love that festival..and the song I'll be playing, "Our Town Said No," is about the town's triumph over Big Oil a few years ago, when Venoco wanted to drill for oil on the beach. This year, they're trying again....and we're campaigning for Proposition P. Of course...(life is never too easy)....I'll have just have returned home from France on Wednesday night, so it's a little crazy for me to do this. But there's no fixing that!

My fourth album is here! - March 20, 2014

My fourth album, CAN'T FIX CRAZY, will be released tomorrow, March 21st, at my CD Release Concert at the Camarillo Cafe. It will be available for sale there, of course, as well as on in a day or two. (If it's not listed will be...SOON!)

Hope you all enjoy it!

Starting 2012 with a Smile - January 6, 2012

After a mountain of hard work, 2011 proved to be a wonderful year for me. Not only was my second album, "Money to Burn," accepted on Pandora (that's can now have a "Jackie Morris" station), but my third album, "Tell Me a Story" made it to TOP FOLK ALBUMS OF 2011" on the Folk Music Radio Airplay Charts. I am thrilled.

I am also truly grateful to the ongoing support of so many friends and DJs. I was deeply touched and honored when two long-time DJs selected my new album as one of their "favorites" for 2011. Bill Hahn, producer/host of "Traditions," the longest-running folk show on WFDU (since 1980), chose "Tell Me a Story" as one of "The 10 albums I most appreciated this year." And Lilli Kuzma, producer/host of "Folk Festival," WDCB, chose it as one of her "additional favorites." Thank you sounds like such an understatement, but that really sums up the way I feel.
